Your feelings matter. They can help.

I’m Liv. I help deeply feeling founders turn emotions into business data, then turn that data into strategy and structure.

Founder, strategist, creative, mother of two.

I built this because I needed a way forward.

Before The Branding Maven, I was unemployed. My children’s father and I were behind on rent, and after calling our mothers for help, his mother told us plainly: “Y’all have to do something.”

So I did. I started with what I knew how to make, found clients, and kept learning. The business began as a way through a hard moment. It became the work I know I am meant to do.

01

I thought I was going to make logos.

A few months in, I had three or four client projects behind me. Later, stepping into a marketing director role helped me see that this could be more than a hobby. I could really do this for a living.

But I also saw a pattern. People would come for the look, feel excited at launch, and then stop using what we made. A beautiful identity could not keep a business moving if the person behind it felt disconnected, overwhelmed, or afraid to be seen.

02

I pay attention to what happens beneath the brief.

I am a deeply emotional person and a big empath. I know anxiety, inconsistency, fear of visibility, and the pressure of trying to build with limited resources. Learning how those feelings shaped my own business helped me recognize the same patterns in other founders.

I listen to more than the words. I notice tone, inflection, body language, and the look on someone’s face when an idea lands—or does not. My hypervigilance has become a form of care. It helps me hear the need underneath “I need a logo.”

That is how The Motions™ were born.

An identity compression exercise I found through a woman on LinkedIn helped me understand my audience more clearly: talented people with something to share, carrying emotions they did not yet have language for.

I grew up loving stories like Osmosis Jones, Inside Out, Cells at Work!, and Soul—worlds that give a face and a voice to the nuanced things happening inside us. I wanted to do that for entrepreneurship.

When anxiety becomes Quake, it gets easier to understand. Quake is not bad; Quake is hypervigilant and trying to protect you. Harbor shows that tranquility is possible. The goal is not to divide feelings into good and bad. It is to name what is here, understand what it is telling you, and find a path forward.

The work is human all the way through.

I refuse to be cold. Strategy, design, systems, and emotional clarity belong together because none of them can carry the business alone. The strategy needs a system. The design needs emotional investment. The structure needs to fit the actual human using it.

I want clients to feel seen, heard, understood, encouraged, and confident enough to keep showing up when engagement is quiet or money is slow. That is what an honest brand can do: help you stay connected to the work when showing up is hard.

What it feels like to work with me.

I’m curious, playful, observant, and direct with care. I do not believe professionalism requires stiffness.

Warm and real.

I send memes, GIFs, emojis, and “LOL.” If the right response is a scene from The Fifth Element, that is probably what you are getting.

Trust goes both ways.

My best work happens with clients who let me understand their vision, expand it, and bring back possibilities they may not have seen yet.

Focused when it is time to make.

I connect closely at the beginning, then put my energy into the work. I value useful communication more than constant chatter.

Fit matters.

I do not work with everyone. The first conversation is also a chance to feel whether the energy, respect, and trust are right on both sides.

The person behind the studio.

I am a stay-at-home mom, a partner, a friend, a nurturer, a goofy creative, and someone still learning how to work through anxiety—especially around communication.

01

Cozy is a value. Perpetual fall, low lights, good scents, music, comfort, and late-night creative work are my ideal atmosphere.

02

Games bring me back to myself. I lose track of time playing video games with my partner and best friend.

03

I used to play cello and piano. Music is still part of how I find the mood of an idea.

04

My people matter. I care deeply about my babies, my household, my partner, my friends, and my family.

What I believe shapes how I build.

I believe everyone deserves the chance to live a fair, healthy life. I believe people should be free to make their own choices. I believe Palestine should be free.

I am raising two children, and I want them to inherit a good life in a good world. Caring for the world around them—and the dignity and freedom of the people in it—is part of caring for them.

Your dream is not too small to become real.

It is unique. It is wonderfully made. You do not need to arrive polished or know exactly what you need. Bring what you have, and I will help you find its shape.
